On our way to Siracusa we stopped to see the Roman mosaics at the Villa Romana del Casale. This villa is home to the largest, and most preserved collection of Roman mosaics in the world. The intricate detail and preservation of the mosaics was truly remarkable.
One of our favorite, and most famous mosaics, was of the so-called Bikini Girls.
Every now and then a worker would mop one of the mosaics and the color would cut through the dust.
For lunch we stopped at the farm, Casabianca, and met the countess Giovanna. We enjoyed a HUGE lunch with beautiful countryside views before heading to Siracusa.
